Some games require a player to straddle. The straddle is a bet that is made before the cards are dealt. Often, this is used to bluff the dealer into revealing cards.
A third type of poker is known as community card poker. During the American Civil War, a 52-card deck was introduced. Soon after, a variant of the game was introduced in which each player was dealt two hole cards and then a community card.
